Secret spots in London – The Pai Life

Eight years ago, Pai was born in a garage in West London.

Fast-forward to 2015 and we still manufacture and distribute every one of our products from our (significantly larger!) HQ in the capital.

Born and bred here in the city, Pai is one very proud Londoner! These days that’s unchanged; members of our team now hail from all over the world, but everyone continues to think of London as ‘home.’

With the weather finally brightening, it’s an excellent opportunity to share a couple of our hidden gems for lounging, eating and exploring in the capital…

St. Dunstan’s in the East

Just a short walk from Cannon St station in central London, you’ll stumble across the ruins of a medieval church that was bombed during the Second World War.

With just its shell remaining, climbing plants soon grew – which led to its opening as a public garden in 1967. St Dunstan’s enjoyed an overhaul earlier this year and now provides a magical spot for a shady lunch in the midst of the city.

Maltby Street Market

This one’s not entirely hidden, but it’s still a gem! Situated in Bermondsey, Maltby offers all the fares of a brilliant street market – without the tourist bustle of Borough.

Arrive early on a Saturday morning for a browse and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at St. John.

Eltham Palace

Eltham Palace boasts eclectic architecture (the Art Deco house is particularly stunning) plus 19-acre gardens. These provide the perfect spot for a summer picnic in the South East of London – we recommend nabbing a spot to relax near the moat!

A travel-inspired children’s play area proves popular while the extravagant Tudor Hall is a great place to explore on a Sunday afternoon.

Franks Café

With summer making a slow but steady appearance, Frank’s is well worth a visit. It’s another jewel in the crown of the capital – this time located on the roof of a multi-storey car park in Peckham.

Frank’s boasts incredible views across London, plus a mouthwatering menu – we love the smoked aubergine!

Our recommendation? Arrive early evening and pick a prime spot to watch the sunset, cocktail in hand.
